Charges: Plasencia was charged with illegally supplying Matthew Perry with ketamine in the weeks leading up to the actor’s overdose death in October 2023. He initially faced more charges, but prosecutors agreed to drop some in exchange for his plea.

Maximum Sentence: The plea carries a maximum statutory sentence of 40 years in federal prison.
Role in Perry’s Death: Prosecutors allege that Plasencia supplied Perry with 20 vials of ketamine, along with lozenges and syringes, and even injected the

actor with the drug on multiple occasions. He also reportedly taught Perry’s personal assistant, Kenneth Iwamasa, how to administer the injections.
Other Defendants: Plasencia is one of five individuals charged in connection with Perry’s death. Three others, including Perry’s assistant Kenneth Iwamasa, and another doctor, Mark Chavez (who supplied ketamine to Plasencia), have already pleaded guilty and are cooperating with prosecutors.

“Ketamine Queen”: The fifth defendant, Jasveen Sangha, referred to by prosecutors as “The Ketamine Queen,” has pleaded not guilty and is scheduled to go to trial in August. Prosecutors allege she supplied the fatal dose of ketamine to Perry.
