ICE protests live updates: Over 200 arrested in L.A

Recent ICE protests in Los Angeles have led to hundreds of arrests, with reports indicating the total number of arrests since the protests began on June 6, 2025, has surpassed 400.

The demonstrations erupted after federal immigration authorities conducted a series of raids across Los Angeles, targeting various locations including the fashion district, a Home Depot, and other businesses. These actions quickly sparked widespread protests, with demonstrators clashing with law enforcement, blocking freeways, and gathering outside federal buildings and detention centers.

Key developments include:

Law Enforcement Response: The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) has declared unlawful assemblies, used tear gas, pepper spray, flash-bang grenades, and less-lethal munitions to disperse crowds.
National Guard and Marine Deployment: President Trump has deployed thousands of California National Guard troops and hundreds of active-duty Marines to Los Angeles to support federal immigration officials and other law enforcement. This move has been met with objections from California Governor Gavin Newsom.

Curfew Imposed: Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass implemented a curfew in downtown Los Angeles to quell what she described as escalating violence, looting, and vandalism.
Arrests and Charges: Hundreds of people have been arrested on various charges, including failure to disperse, assaulting officers, vandalism, looting, and arson. The Los Angeles County District Attorney has announced charges against individuals accused of instigating violence.
Union Leader Arrested: David Huerta, president of the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) California, was arrested while protesting and charged with felony conspiracy to impede an officer. He was later released.
Nationwide Spread: The Los Angeles protests have inspired similar demonstrations in other cities across the U.S., with reports of anti-ICE protests in at least 35 cities across multiple states.
