Egypt’s food manufacturing industry is a vital sector in the country’s economy, playing a central role in both domestic consumption and export. The government of Egypt supports the food manufacturing sector through various initiatives, including the “Egypt Vision 2030” strategy, which aims to enhance food security, increase exports, and attract more investment. Free zones and industrial parks such as the 6th of October City, 10th of Ramadan City, and Sadat City provide infrastructure and incentives for food processing businesses. In addition, regulatory bodies like the National Food Safety Authority (NFSA) are working to improve food quality standards and ensure compliance with global export requirements.

Exports from Egypt’s food manufacturing industry have seen steady growth, with key markets including the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, Europe, and Africa. Processed food exports include items like frozen vegetables, fruit juices, bakery products, and canned goods. Egypt also benefits from trade agreements such as the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA) and the Greater Arab Free Trade Area (GAFTA), which facilitate easier access to regional markets.

Challenges facing the industry include fluctuations in raw material prices, energy costs, and the need for further technological modernization. However, the sector continues to attract investments due to the growing demand for packaged and processed foods among Egypt’s young and urban population.
